• Every year 15 million children die of hunger
  • For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years
  • Throughout the 1990’s more than 100 million children will die from illness and starvation. Those 100 million deaths could be prevented for the price of ten Stealth bombers, or what the world spends on its military in two days!
  • The World Health Organization estimates that one-third of the world is well-fed, one-third is under-fed one-third is starving- Since you’ve entered this site at least 200 people have died of starvation. Over 4 million will die this year.
  • One in twelve people worldwide is malnourished, including 160 million children under the age of 5.
  • Nearly one in four people, 1.3 billion – a majority of humanity – live on less than $1 per day, while the world’s 358 billionaires have assets exceeding the combined annual incomes of countries with 45 percent of the world’s people.
  • 3 billion people in the world today struggle to survive on US$2/day.
  • Half of all children under five years of age in South Asia and one third of those in sub-Saharan Africa are malnourished.
  • About 183 million children weigh less than they should for their age.
  • To satisfy the world’s sanitation and food requirements would cost only US$13 billion- what the people of the United States and the European Union spend on perfume each year.
  • The assets of the world’s three richest men are more than the combined GNP of all the least developed countries on the planet.
  • Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger.

Want to help ? All you have to do to help end world hunger is to join thousands of others bloggers on April 29 and write a post about world hunger.

  1. Soegianto Said,

    Dear Timothy,
Hi, my name is Soegianto. I am living in Jakarta, Indonesia for more than 28 years. Recently in this year I read that almost 800 baby die on malnutrition. What make me shock, this baby die is not living in africa, nor in other country. It’s too near, it’s in my area NORTH JAKARTA of Indonesia. Shocking by this news, I realized that we should do something to make a difference

Right now I am part of cross project ministry (CPM). The first time when we decide to establish this small yet independent organization is to create a difference, an organization that fight malnutrition with a different way

To bring children out from malnutrition has become the focus of Cross Project Ministry (CPM), with the main reason that children are one of our country’s future assets. And therefore it is important that they have adequate nutrition.
We believe by opening access to capital, skill and market will help to improve their self-sufficiency on increasing their standard of life.

    which our activity
? To empower housewives to create a value added product
? To build access to market their product
? To manage the profit and distribute nutritious food for their children

I really support event in bloggersunite, which I believe it also can make a difference to the world! Gbu

  2. Timothy Said,

Hi there Soegianto. Yes, sometimes things happen to the most unfortunate people. Often I believe they are a victim of consequence. Just being born at the wrong place, at the wrong time.

Your Cross Project Ministry (CPM) is a very noble effort. I truly believe whatever you are doing will benefit those in need. If there is anything I can do to help and it’s within my means, please do let me know. Someone wise once said, the pen is mightier than the sword.

I guess in this case, the keyboard does the job.

  3. Soegianto Said,

    Thanks Timothy,

I hope that I can share the principle of Cross Project Ministry, One wise word from China, “Give man a fish and he can eat for a day, Teach man how to fish and he can eat for a life time”

In my case, it’s housewife who feed their child… 🙂

Agree with you pen is mightier than the sword 🙂

Maybe if you join a church congregation and need souvenir just let me know… or maybe you want to create the same ministry in your area… I will be very happy to inform you how we start this small project!
